Campaign Director

Reports to: Managing Director, Campaigns

Location: Washington, DC

Status: Full-time; Exempt

Position Summary

The Campaign Director will manage the day-to-day of a multi-state, multi-issue advocacy campaign, which will include communications, digital, and research and policy components. The campaign will rely heavily on coordinated national and local activity on key progressive issues.

This is a significant leadership role at The Hub Project. In this role you will be responsible for strategizing and executing issue campaigns — managing budgets, a team of people from across the organization, a variety of vendors and creating full scale plans for issue campaigns.


As the Campaign Director, you will…

  • Develop, write and execute large-scale issue advocacy campaign plans.
  • Design budgets to accomplish the goals of the campaign.
  • Lead a strategic team of communications, research, and digital staff on campaigns on progressive economic issues.
  • Run substantial paid programs on TV and digital platforms.
  • Work closely with existing and develop relationships with new campaign partners to build robust, multi- faceted campaigns.
  • Oversee rapid-response efforts as necessary.
  • Manage vendors across national and state programs.
  • Work with the team to report on program progress and success.
  • Find, hire and manage partners in states across the country through grantee agreements.
  • Manage an internal team of up to 20 people.

About you:

  • You have a bachelor’s degree or higher.
  • You have experience working in a Campaign Director role for a non-profit or electoral campaign.
  • You’re excellent at developing and managing relationships.
  • You have a creative approach to problem solving and campaign tactics.
  • You have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • You’re a pro at multi-tasking and working under tight deadlines in a dynamic environment.
  • You’re flexible and are good at managing up, down and around to get the job done.
  • You’re well-organized and live to help others achieve common goals.
  • You’re a creative problem-solver and enjoy state-based work.
