Maju Varghese

Chief Operating Officer

Maju is the Chief Operating Officer at the Hub Project. Prior to joining the team at the Hub, Maju was a Senior Advisor on the global security team at Dentons, a large law firm. At Dentons, Maju helped stand up the office of the Chief Global Security Officer, including its initial budget and operational priorities. Working with teams from departments across the firm, including Information Technology, Human Resources and the General Counsel’s Office, Maju worked on the rollout of firm wide security protocols, new training initiatives and resiliency plans.

Prior to his work at Dentons, Maju was a senior member of President Obama’s staff at the White House, serving until the administration’s final hours. There, he oversaw day to day White House operations, including oversight of its budget, personnel, facilities, tours and events as Assistant to the President for Management and Administration. He also played a leading role in the development and execution of plans for the Presidential Transition in 2016 and 2017.

Maju also served as Special Assistant to the President and Deputy Director of Advance, leading teams that coordinated the President’s domestic and international travel and the production of all of the President’s events. During his 5 years in the Advance Office, he worked closely with the State Department, US Ambassadors across the globe, foreign governments, the Secret Service and the White House Military Office. A veteran of multiple presidential campaigns, Maju practiced law before his time at the White House, serving as a litigation associate in a New York law firm.

Maju is a graduate of the University of Massachusetts Amherst and Hofstra Law School. Maju lives in Arlington, Virginia with his wife and son.
